Jobs Bus to tour Waltham Forest

Next stop, starting work! The Council is launching a new mobile outreach service on 14 April, called the Jobs Bus, to help residents looking for work.

Over the next eight months, the Jobs Bus will tour the borough three days a week, visiting estates, high streets, libraries and other locations to bring the service to those who need it. The bus will offer residents free and hands-on help in getting work, training, or apprenticeships opportunities.

Residents will be able to board the bus, ask advice from qualified advisors, and do mock interviews and training. Job seekers will also be able to use the 20 onboard computers with wi-fi to search for work and polish their CVs.

The Jobs Bus, a multi-coloured single-decker, will start its tour in 41 West Street, off Leytonstone High Road, on 14 April from 10am-3.30pm, and will tour the borough until November.

Cllr Mark Rusling, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Corporate Resources, said: “We all know how much quicker and easier it is to job-search online these days, so we hope everyone looking for work will make the most of our Jobs Bus as a great new outreach service.

“Having the advisors on board to provide advice and guidance will be a fantastic advantage, whichever type of work our residents are looking for.

“Our Jobs Bus is a great first step to getting work this summer.”
