Customer Services on the move

The Customer Services Centre on Hoe Street, Walthamstow will be closing on Friday 19 December.

From Monday 22 December customer services will be available at the borough’s Library Plus branches, with a focus on helping residents access the increasing range of Waltham Forest Council’s services available online.

“We are making these changes to improve customer services for residents across the borough”, said Councillor Clyde Loakes, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment.

“You will be able to access a range of Council services from our Library Plus branches, and staff will be on hand if you need any support or advice.”

Services previously offered at the centre on Hoe Street will be available at the following Library Plus branches –

  • Walthamstow, High Street, E17 7JN

  • Leyton, High Road, E10 5QH

  • Chingford, The Green, E4 7EN

Customer services will also be available at Leytonstone Library Plus when it reopens in September 2015.

Services available will include pre-booked appointments for registering a birth, making payments via the self-service facilities, online claims and document scanning.

There will be trained advisors at each of the Library Plus branches to offer assistance to those unfamiliar with the self-service terminals, and they can also provide advice on benefits. Free phone facilities are available if residents need to call the Contact Centre.

Customer service staff will be available in Library Plus branches from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Self-service terminals are available during normal library opening hours.

An increasing number of Council services can be accessed directly online at This includes buying a parking permit, paying your council tax, managing benefits and applying for council housing.
