Free winter activities with Our Parks

The borough’s popular Our Parks programme will continue to run throughout winter to give residents plenty of opportunities to get active.

Whether it’s women-only exercise classes, tots tennis lessons or box fit sessions, there are activities to suit all ages and abilities.

In addition to various outdoor classes held at Abbotts Parks, Drapers Field, Langthorne Park, Leyton Jubilee Park, Lloyd Park and Ridgeway Park, there are also indoor sessions in activities such as yoga and circuit training taking place in Walthamstow Library and Walthamstow School for Girls.

Cllr Ahsan Khan, Waltham Forest Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, said: “We don’t want the cold weather to put a stop Waltham Forest’s hugely popular Our Parks programme so we’ve arranged for it to carry on throughout winter.

“We have more green space than any London borough north of the Thames and these group exercise sessions give residents the chance to make the most of our fantastic parks while getting active at the same time.

“And, if you don’t fancy taking part in an outdoor activity, you can still stay fit and healthy by getting involved with one of the indoor Our Parks sessions – or join one of our newly-refurbished leisure centres, which have been transformed as part of the Council’s multimillion pound improvement programme.”

So far, 3,789 Waltham Forest residents have signed up to take part in free activities on offer through the Our Parks programme.
