Get into the Christmas spirit at carol concerts

Free carol concerts are taking place across Waltham Forest in the run up to Christmas.

Waltham Forest Council is inviting residents of all ages to celebrate Christmas by singing along to traditional carols at events in Chingford, Leyton and Walthamstow.

Visitors will be able to treat themselves to festive snacks and hot drinks while they listen to live music from the East London Brass band and sing their favourite carols.

The first carol concert takes place at Chingford Assembly Hall, in Station Road, from 6.30pm until 7.30pm on Wednesday 10 December. Residents are advised to arrive early to avoid disappointment as doors will close once the venue is full.

Coronation Gardens, in High Road Leyton, hosts the next event on Tuesday 16 December from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

The final concert is at the William Morris Gallery, in Lloyd Park, Forest Road, from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday 21 December. In addition to musical entertainment and activities for all the family, residents will also be able to visit the free-to-attend Gallery, which is open from 10am to 5pm. Tea, coffee, mulled wine and mince pies will be available to buy at all of the concerts.

Leader of the Council Chris Robbins said: “We hope to see as many local people as possible taking advantage of these free events. They’re a great way to celebrate the festive season but also represent a wonderful opportunity for Waltham Forest residents to get to know their neighbours.”
