Sister Sledge to headline at Chingford Big Weekender

The Chingford Big Weekender 2014 is set to sizzle this summer with American super group Sister Sledge headlining the event on Saturday 9 August at Ridge Way Park in Chingford E4.

The free two-day event will take place on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 August and will boast a further stellar live line up including Alexander O’Neal, Gwen Dickey from American 1970’s band Rose Royce, who are renowned for hits such as Car Wash.

Local talent will be available in abundance too with singer Tina T, who has worked with Chaka Khan and Cerebro Dance, a street dance group who have performed at the Hackney Empire, Sadler’s Wells and a host of dance showcases.

There are many activities that people can take part in and enjoy on both days including a funfair, peddle karts, climbing wall, crazy golf and much more.

Leader of the Council, Chris Robbins said:

“We’re encouraging everyone to come out and celebrate this year. If you enjoy music, there’s an amazing line up from big names to local talent, there’s something for everyone, so come down and see what takes your fancy.”

Sunday will be the family day and will include an inflatable sports arena and inflatable human table football, garden games, bungee run, boxing, kids’ play zone, 75ft medieval run, two bouncy castles and crazy bikes.
