Bakers Arms celebration event cancelled

Unfortunately the celebration event organised to take place tomorrow (Wednesday 26 March) at Bakers Arms has had to be cancelled. Electrical problems in the area have arisen over recent days and UK Power Networks have insisted that essential works involving major excavations will have to take place.

The problems that have arisen are not connected in any way to the major scheme of works that the Council has been undertaking with businesses in the area over recent months. It goes without saying that this is extremely frustrating for the Council given the significant investment that has been made. Likewise it is no doubt very disappointing for local businesses and residents, but we are assured by UK Power Networks that this work is unavoidable.

The Council will look to reschedule the event later in the year. We have urged UK Power Networks to minimise disruption for pedestrians, shoppers, businesses and road-users while the work takes place and acquired an assurance from them that all surfacing will be fully reinstated to the same quality at no cost to the Council.
