New interim operator for Lloyd Park Hub café

A new interim operator has been selected to take over the running of the Lloyd Park Hub café from 1 November.

The new operator, Chicchi Café, will be in place on a six-month interim contract, while Waltham Forest Council undertakes the selection process for a new organisation to run the café on a long-term basis.

The hub, which was previously run by Waltham Forest College, will be managed by Waltham Forest Council from 1 November, after the college gave notice that they would be withdrawing from running the facility.

The café will be closed on Thursday 30 and Friday 31 October while preparations are made for the new operator to take over. During this time refreshments will be available in the William Morris Gallery tea room from 10am to 4.30pm. The hub toilets will be closed on the morning of Friday 31 October. Visitors will be able to use the toilets in the William Morris Gallery during this time.

Chris Robbins, Leader of Waltham Forest Council said: “I am pleased that we have found a new interim operator for the café, and we are continuing to work with the Friends of Lloyd Park to ensure that the hub building reaches its potential as a vibrant centre for the park that residents will be able to use and enjoy all year round.”

The Council is planning to make the community room in the Hub building available for hire from 16 November. For the latest updates visit www.walthamforest.gov.uk/lloyd-park.
