Mini-Holland nominated for Cycle Planning Awards

Waltham Forest’s Mini-Holland Programme has been announced as a finalist in three award categories at the inaugural Cycle Planning Awards 2015.



The Cycle Planning Awards is organised by the Active Travel Network and Local Transport Today to acknowledge and reward those excelling in design and delivery. 



The Council’s Mini-Holland Programme has been nominated as a finalist in the following categories: ‘Best Cycle Network Infrastructure Project’; ‘Best Cycling Network Strategy’ and ‘Best Innovation – Planning Technique’.



Councillor Clyde Loakes, Deputy Leader of Waltham Forest Council and Cabinet Member for Environment said Waltham Forest is leading the charge on sustainable transport and environmental health.



“It is a great honour to not only be nominated for these significant awards but to be named as the host venue for the very first Cycle Planning Awards.”



“Waltham Forest is cementing itself as London’s premiere cycling destination by hosting two leading industry events this September,” 



On Monday 14 September the Council will hold the National Cycling Planning Awards and 2015 London Cycling Show on Tuesday 15 September. 



“These events provide a great opportunity to celebrate and promote our achievements, including showcasing our ground-breaking £30million Mini-Holland Programme to fellow industry leaders from across Europe,” said Cllr Loakes.



Cllr Loakes has also been named a finalist in the Cycling Champion of the Year category for being a ‘key driver in revolutionising cycling in Waltham Forest and creating cycle friendly communities.’
