Apply now for arts grants

Artists looking for help getting their next project off the ground are being invited to apply for grants – and in turn help to establish Waltham Forest as the leading borough for arts and culture in outer London.

The Council has officially opened the latest round of its Arts Development Grants programme, and is encouraging anyone with an exciting and innovative artistic or cultural project to apply for funding.

The grants are designed to support any form of cultural activity which brings together residents and communities from across the borough. They provide creatives with an opportunity to try out a new idea or further develop an existing project.

Detailed information about the grant scheme, along with application guidance notes and criteria for applicants, can be found online. Alternatively, the Council is hosting Q&A and surgery sessions for potential applicants.

The first takes place on Wednesday 14 December at The View, in Leyton Library. Places can be booked at a Q&A session from 11am to 12pm, or fifteen minute, one-to-one surgery sessions are available from 12pm to 1pm.

The final Q&A session is from 6pm to 7pm on Monday 9 January in Committee Room 2, in Waltham Forest Town Hall. This will be followed by another surgery session from 7pm to 8pm.

Council Leader Chris Robbins said: “We want to build upon our rich artistic heritage, and really put Waltham Forest on the capital’s cultural map.

“We’re already home to some wonderful cultural venues, and increasingly the borough is also being recognised for its fantastic and talented community of artists, designers and makers.

“Through our Arts Development Grants programme, we want to give our creative residents a platform from which to launch or develop engaging and exciting projects.”
