New 'Night Feast' Market Comes to Walthamstow

A new ‘Night Feast’ street market is set to launch with a Brazilian-themed carnival party in Walthamstow Town Square on Friday 5 August.

The new Night Feast event is being organised by Feast Forum, which was founded by two East London street food traders Chris Evans and Theo-Lee Houston, who runs the Maltby Street Market in Bermondsey. Night Feast is supported by Waltham Forest Council and the Mayor of London.

The aim of the event is to create a collective of local and quality market traders and create a new night out destination in the town centre of Walthamstow. Curated street food, drinks, arts and crafts, produce and kids entertainment stalls will all be available.

Cllr Clare Coghill, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and High Streets said: “We are seeing a vibrant evening economy emerging in Walthamstow Town Centre, which was established by the new cinema and restaurants at The Scene. The Council is always looking for new ways to showcase local independent traders, and I hope as many Waltham Forest residents as possible visit Night Feast and make it a great success.”

Organisers Chris and Theo said: “We’re looking forward to bringing Night Feast to Walthamstow, showcasing some fantastic street food businesses for everyone to enjoy. We want to energise the community into coming together in a great public space, tasting great local food and having a fun night out.”

The first Night Feast on Friday 5 August coincides with the opening ceremony of the 2016 Rio Olympics, hence the carnival theme. The event will be open from 5pm to 10pm. The intention is for Night Feast events to run regularly throughout the summer.

Local groups and businesses interested in getting involved in Night Feast are welcome to get in touch with Chris Evans and Theo-Lee Houston by emailing nightfeast17@gmail.com

The arrival of Night Feast comes hot on the heels of the opening of a new Creative Space in Central Parade, Walthamstow, which is providing space for up to 50 independent creative businesses to develop and showcase their work. Businesses to have already moved in include a café/bakery, bridal gown designer, art gallery and a massage and well-being specialist. For more information visit www.centralparade.com.
