Another Award Win for Mini-Holland

Waltham Forest’s Mini-Holland Programme has received more national recognition after it was named a winner at the 2016 Sustainable City Awards.

The Sustainable City Awards have been running for 14 years, celebrating and honouring outstanding contributions to sustainability across sectors including transport, building, climate change and food.

Mini-Holland was named the winner in the Travel and Transport category, which rewards schemes that encourage people to use more sustainable forms of travel, or which reduce the impact of traffic and transport on the environment.

Cllr Clyde Loakes, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment said: “It’s fantastic to see Mini-Holland among the winners at the Sustainable City Awards, recognising all of our hard work to date.

“The programme is making great strides in providing safe and accessible options for cycling and walking, which will in turn help to improve air quality, ease congestion and improve the health and wellbeing of our residents. I would like to congratulate all the other award winners announced on the night.”

The Mini-Holland Programme was also shortlisted in the Sustainable Places category, and was a finalist in two categories at the recent London Transport Awards – Transport Borough of the Year and Excellence in Cycling and Walking.
