Shop Local in Waltham Forest This Christmas

Waltham Forest residents are being encouraged to Shop Local this Christmas, and take advantage of the fantastic range of independent shops, cafes, bars, restaurants, street traders, online retailers, artists and designers that they have available on their doorsteps.

The Shop Local campaign has been launched by Waltham Forest Council in collaboration with online store Stow Inspired to showcase the best that the borough’s unique range of local businesses has to offer this Christmas.

Cllr Clare Coghill, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and High Streets said: “We have such a fantastic range of shops, designers, bars and restaurants in Waltham Forest, there really is no need to look anywhere else this Christmas.

We want to support and promote our local businesses and we hope that the Shop Local campaign inspires our residents to explore the fantastic range of shops and services that are available on their doorstep. The Council has worked hard to improve our town centres, and we will continue to do all we can to support local businesses to grow and thrive in our borough.”

Businesses are being encouraged to get involved in the campaign by displaying a special Christmas Star window sticker and showing their support on social media using the hashtag #wfxmasstar. Businesses can get their star by contacting the Council’s Investment, Business and Employment Team or by emailing Stow Inspired at marketing@stowinspired.co.uk

A number of local businesses and community organisations have already backed the campaign, and their details are available on the website – www.shopwalthamforest.london.

From 29 November to 4 December a unique Pop-Up Shop will be open on Hoe Street, Walthamstow, run by Stow Inspired in partnership with the Council. The shop will give local artists, designers and other small businesses the opportunity to showcase their products during one of the busiest shopping weeks in the run-up to Christmas.

The Council is also encouraging businesses and residents to get involved in Small Business Saturday on 3 December. Businesses can register at www.smallbusinesssaturdayuk.com and receive a toolkit of supporting materials to promote their involvement in the day.
