Council to Host Apprenticeship Opportunities Event

Waltham Forest Council is hosting a Promoting Apprenticeship Opportunities event next month, giving young people and their families the opportunity to meet with employers, colleges, sixth forms and other training providers and find out more about how an apprenticeship could benefit them.

The event will take place on Thursday 20 October 2016 at Leyton Orient’s Matchroom Stadium (Brisbane Road, Leyton E10 5NF), from 1pm to 6.30pm. Attendees will be able to talk to a range of exhibitors offering apprenticeship opportunities within all the different industry sectors operating in the borough.

As well as a variety of stands from employers, colleges, sixth forms and training providers, the event will also feature a number of workshops focused on different industries, giving young people the chance to learn more about what it is like to work in different sectors. There will also be a range of speeches directed at parents and carers, providing more information on the positive impact that an apprenticeship can have on a young person’s career development.

Cllr Clare Coghill, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and High Streets said: “This event will be a very useful way for young people to learn more about how an apprenticeship could benefit them, and the increasing number of opportunities available from local providers. We know that we have some incredibly talented young people in Waltham Forest, and we want to do all we can to help our young people develop the skills they need to embark on successful careers and make the most of employment opportunities available across the borough.”
